Enstoolment Banquet

Every two years, The Association of Black Psychologists presents an Enstoolment Banquet as the place where the formal transfer of power from the current President to the President-Elect occurs. During this formal yet celebratory event the new President is sworn in and a Presidential address delivered.

The Enstoolment Ceremony borrows from West African traditions and symbols to mark the new presidency. Celebratory conversation, drumming and dancing are important traditions practiced during this ceremony.

The Banquet in which the Enstoolment Ceremony takes place provides an open forum reinforcing the connection physically, mentally and spiritually between the participants and the President, thereby allowing each member of the Banquet to personally hold the President of The Association of Black Psychologists accountable to his/her oath and pledge as stated during the Presidential Address.
